Overall TWC OCM Winner: Jim Cantore

The winner is…Mr. Jim Cantore. A native of White River Junction, Vermont, Jim graduated with a B.S. in Meteorology from Lyndon State College and first appeared on TWC in July of 1986. Jim is proud to say that The Weather Channel was his first job out of college. Jim's passion for field reporting during extreme weather events is well known among TWC viewers. In addition to field and studio reporting, Jim is one of the co-hosts of the prime time magazine show "Atmospheres." Like many weather enthusiasts, Jim has a great respect for the weather. In his "spare time," Jim plays softball and golf and is an accomplished landscaper. And, of course, Jim enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.

Here are samples of some of the responses that were submitted:

“Favorite Male OCM: Jim Cantore…because he gets stuck in all of the hurricanes and gets blown off his feet, plus some of his analogies when explaining the weather are comical.

Favorite Female OCM: (the baby factory that is) Kristina Abernathy, because she gets pregnant every 9 months, which, unfortunately blocks out the entire Southeast on the forecast maps.

Favorite Overall OCM:  The Local Forecast voice…who can resist the calm, timeless, and sexy voice that is the Local Forecast reader? For over two years, he's been tirelessly reading completely incorrect forecasts without a trace of doubt in his voice. He's definitely a shoe-in.”

-Eddie Weaver

“Favorite Male OCM: Dave Schwartz -- He is the most creative of all OCMs because he seems to make up forecasts and interspersed strange comments along the way. He definitely is not staged.

Favorite Female OCM: Lisa Mozer -- She has a new hairstyle every two weeks (from bald to braids). Nevertheless, she keeps her unusual accent and incorrect pronunciations of multiple locations. Her lack of a gazetteer gives the viewer something unusual to listen for.”
-Kevin Grise

“Jimbo (Cantore) definitely takes the cake for me on the male side. He is by far the most enthusiastic OCM that TWC has.

On the female side, it was a tougher decision, but Jill Brown would be my vote. She is one of the earliest OCMs that I can remember watching and she is also one of the most attractive.”

-Ryan Sobash

“I would have to go with Declan Cannon because he was the first OCM I ever saw on TWC. My favorite female OCM would be Jill Brown…she was the first woman I saw on TWC. I'm also a big fan of Mike Seidel…he came here for EMEX 1998… seemed really cool!”

-Dan Leins

“Favorite Male OCM: Jim Cantore. His enthusiasm for the weather and informative style of presentation make him second to none. Plus, who can forget the infamous "lightning strike in Worcester" about six years ago during a snow storm he was covering in early December.

Overall Favorite OCM: Jim Cantore. He is simply the best. When people think of great TWC OCMs, Jim has to immediately come to mind.”
